Overview

Summary

The Technical Director is responsible for optimizing material sourcing to maximize Titan America profitability, ensuring quality across all Titan product lines, providing technical support to customers, leading quality and innovation initiatives, and enabling major projects.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly review material sourcing and collaborate with sales, finance, manufacturing, and logistics to optimize material sourcing to maximize Titan America profitability.
  • Collaborate with and support state concrete quality managers, cement quality manager, and aggregate quality manager to implement quality plans and initiatives statewide.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies, new materials, and continuous improvement programs to enable the Titan America innovation roadmap.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to anticipate, understand, and meet customer requirements for product performance.
  • At the direction of sales, provide support to external customers of all product lines.
  • Direct concrete lab testing for new initiatives for the cement plant.
  • Work closely with business teams to ensure quality certifications and rapid opening for new facilities.
  • Direct specialized testing (e.g. chloride, resistivity, shrinkage, calorimetry).
  • Provide support for major, unique, and challenging customer projects statewide.
  • Help customers perform value engineering using Titan products.
  • Maintain, manage, and communicate quality key performance indicators for the state.
  • Provide training and education for staff and customers.
  • Maintain contacts with local professional organizations.
  • Work with engineers, state and federal agencies, and other specifiers to obtain specifications that are favorable to Titan products. 

 

Qualifications

Reporting

  • This position directly reports to the Vice President of Innovation and Quality

 

Qualifications

  • MS degree in engineering or science discipline, plus 10 years of experience in the cement and concrete industry; PhD preferred
  • Analytical, with strong math and statistical analysis knowledge (six sigma training preferred)
  • Collaborative, with a customer service mindset
  • Organized, with project management skills
  • Knowledgeable, with deep familiarity with concrete industry standards and specifications and with ready mix manufacturing design, processes and equipment
  • Technology-savvy, with an ability to master industry software applications.

 

Location

  • Richmond, VA (preferred) or another Titan regional office
  • This position covers Titan America’s Mid-Atlantic Region, including SC, NC, VA, WV, OH, PA, NJ, and NJ
