Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for an Electrical/Mechanical Instrumentation Technician in the Aggregates Division. This wage non-exempt position is assigned to the Production Department. The incumbent will report directly to the Lead-out Supervisor, and indirectly to the Electrical Supervisor. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair of power and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot & calibrate industrial instrumentation.
  • Instrumentation includes, but is not limited to pressure transmitters, weight-feeders, analog and digital indicators and electromechanical actuators.
  • Preventive maintenance of power, control and instrumentation systems.
  • Participate in installation and commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Installation, testing and starting of Medium Voltage and low voltage electrical motors:

          - MV - synchronous and induction motors
          - LV - induction and DC motors.

  • Provide mechanical maintenance, including repairs, lubrication, welding, alignment, and any necessary functions to operate.
  • Repair and maintain motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines as necessary.
  • Inspect used parts to determine change in dimensional requirements.
  • Operate light mobile equipment, such as forklifts, overhead crane, and portable welding machines.
  • Maintain equipment safe, clean, operational/functional.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to speak, read and write the English language.
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions sufficient to carry out work orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic diagrams, logic diagrams, process flow diagram, electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Able to use PCs running Windows operating system.
  • Basic troubleshooting and operation of PLCs and VFDs.
  • Basic understanding of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and related safety practices.
  • Extended hours, weekends, holiday as required by supervisor.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices used to diagnose equipment problems (by use of computerized test equipment where applicable).
  • Ability to read and understand technical service manuals.
  • G-3 welding certification.
  • Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Required Experience:

  • High school graduate, Technical/Vocational School training
  • 10 years of experience, or 2-year electrical/electronic certification and 3 years equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with three-phase power, 480 VAC and higher.
  • Must possess basic hand tools used in Electrical and Mechanical trades
  • Previous technical Electrical/Mechanical experience in manufacturing facility is a PLUS.
  • Skilled in use of basic electrical testing and measuring instruments.
