Overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Corporate Engineering team in Medley, FL. This position will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced electrical teams to learn and contribute to various aspects of our heady industry operations.  This internship is designed to provide valuable real-world experience in the cement industry.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the safety training based on MSHA requirements for cement plant
  • Obtain, correlate and analyze technical information
  • Study engineering designs related with power networks, electrical distribution, instrumentation and automation installations
  • Review engineering studies provided from engineering firms
  • Support the electrical team to issue specifications for materials procurement
  • Site supervision of electrical installations erection and track conformance against the engineering designs
  • Track projects expenditures and report status against approved budget
  • Follow up projects time schedule, develop tasks assignments and report status
  • Develop testing plans on new and existing electrical equipment
  • Maintain the electrical department library (i.e. documenting and scanning electrical drawings)
  • Assist in identifying courses of action to improve safety and operational efficiencies
  • Assist with reporting, planning, and audits
  • Clearly articulate ideas or issues to management

Qualifications

  • Graduate or student actively pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial and Systems Engineering
  • Ability to be a self-starter, be self-directed, and take initiative to move forward with ideas; must be able to work with and influence others
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with professional decorum, oral and written
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities to anticipate issues and provide solutions
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must have basic project management skills
  • Prior internship or Co-op experience in heavy industry beneficial
  • Positive attitude to achieve goals and deliver results
  • Availability Able to commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week
