We are looking for a skilled and motivated Terminal Operator to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This position will be responsible for successfully perform the day-to-day terminal operations and maintenance.
Responsibilities
Load tanker trucks or rail cars according to job orders and in a manner to minimize spillage and dust.
Offload rail cars and ships in a manner to minimize spillage, dust and contamination.
Operate equipment such as Heila arm manipulator 926 M payloader/bobcats, forklifts, and Trackmobile.
Diagnose cause of equipment or plant malfunction to determine root cause of problem.
Repair plant and equipment, including compressors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers, etc. with limited supervision.
Maintain grounds to include mowing, landscaping, snow and ice removal, etc.
May make minor electrical repairs.
Make recommendations to appropriate plant personnel in a timely manner to prevent recurrence of problems.
Perform all work in a manner to maximize production amounts and quality.
Maintain safe and clean work area.
Operate hand-help radio according to company policy and FCC regulations.
Communicate verbally with all plant personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must possess excellent communication skills.
Must have knowledge of plant operating systems.
Must have knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Must have good computer skills.
Physical job requirements include working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat and cold, constant standing and walking, climbing, working from heights and lifting to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work nights and weekends when needed.
Must be able to obtain TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
