Responsibilities

 

The SAP FICO Business Power User serves as the critical link between finance and IT departments, optimizing the organization’s use of SAP FICO (Financial Accounting and Controlling) modules. This role not only ensures the smooth functioning and enhancement of SAP FICO systems but also applies Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement in financial processes. The ideal candidate is adept in SAP FICO configuration, process analysis, and improvement methodologies, ensuring operational efficiency and strategic alignment with business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

SAP FICO Module Management:

  • Act as the primary expert for SAP FICO functionality, configuration, and best practices.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of SAP FICO modules, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), and Controlling (CO).
  • Configure SAP FICO systems to align with business needs and ensure system stability.
  • Oversee integration points with other SAP modules (e.g., MM, SD) to support seamless processes.

Process Improvement with Six Sigma:

  • Apply Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies and eliminate waste in financial processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement solutions to reduce errors, delays, and operational bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and measure improvements.

Business Process Optimization:

  • Analyze and streamline financial and operational processes to improve efficiency and accuracy to align with SAP capabilities.
  • Drive automation initiatives and leverage SAP tools to enhance process efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure integration between SAP FICO and other modules (e.g., MM, SD) to streamline end-to-end processes.
  • Provide insights for aligning system capabilities with organizational goals.
  • Support change management efforts for finance and accounting teams adapting to process enhancements.

Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for SAP FICO-related issues, providing both functional and technical support to end users.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, ensuring data accuracy and operational continuity.
  • Work with IT teams or external consultants for advanced support and system upgrades.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain financial reports using SAP tools (e.g., Report Painter, Report Writer, SAP Analytics).
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and internal financial controls (e.g., SOX compliance).
  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes using SAP FICO capabilities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data for compliance, decision-making, and external reporting requirements.

Training and Documentation:

  • Conduct end-user training sessions on SAP FICO modules, new features, and process improvements.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including user guides, process workflows, user manuals, and training materials.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure user adoption of new tools and practices.

Project Management and Collaboration:

  • Participate in SAP implementation or upgrade projects, contributing to system testing and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design SAP-based solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Drive Lean and Six Sigma projects across finance and operations for measurable improvement

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in SAP FICO modules, including system configuration and user support.
  • Strong knowledge of financial processes, including GL, AR, AP, CO-PA, and cost center accounting.
  • Experience in SAP implementations, upgrades, or migrations is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, with Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
  • Exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, or service industries is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in SAP FICO modules and integration with other SAP modules (MM, SD, PP).
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting using SAP and Excel tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP system enhancements, automation, and workflow management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with reporting tools like SAP BW, BPC, or SAC.

Process Improvement Skills:

  • Proficient in Six Sigma tools and techniques, such as DMAIC, FMEA, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address systemic issues and implement sustainable solutions.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive approach to challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP certification in FICO modules.
  • Experience with S/4HANA.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, S/4HANA and Fiori applications.
  • Experience leading Lean or Six Sigma initiatives in a finance or IT environment.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks like SOX or ISO standards.
